Share & Club Accounts
Dividends are calculated by the daily balance method, which applies a daily periodic rate to the balance in the account each day. During any statement period, you may not make more than six withdrawals or transfers to another TVFCU account of yours or to a third party by means of a preauthorized or automatic transfer or telephonic order or instruction. No more than three of the six transfers may be made by check, draft, Visa® debit card (if applicable) or similar order to a third party.
Money Market Accounts
Dividends are calculated by the daily balance method, which applies a daily periodic rate to the balance in the account each day. There is a $2,500 minimum balance requirement and $15 monthly service charge if your balance falls below the minimum. During any statement period, you may not make more than six withdrawals or transfers to another TVFCU account of yours or to a third party by means of a preauthorized or automatic transfer or telephonic order or instruction. No more than three of the six transfers may be made by check, draft, Visa® debit card (if applicable) or similar order to a third party. There will be a $3.00 fee for each transaction exceeding these limitations.
Christmas Club Accounts
Dividends are calculated by the daily balance method, which applies a daily periodic rate to the balance in the account each day. A minimum opening deposit of $5 is required for this account. As of September 30 each year, your funds will be transferred to your share account. There is a penalty for early withdrawal.
Share Certificates (CDs)
All rates subject to prevailing rates at time of issuance. Penalty for early withdrawal. See “Rates” for current terms and rates.
Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs)
A minimum opening deposit of $25 is required for the variable account. But if the account is opened with a payroll deduction allotment or transfer from another institution, no minimum opening deposit is required. A $25 penalty will be charged, if the IRA is closed within the first year of opening. All standard IRA rules and regulations apply. Funds can earn a variable rate, which is based on current market conditions or be invested in Credit Union certificates at prevailing rates. See “Rates” for current certificate rates. Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)
A minimum opening deposit of $25 is required. If the account is opened with direct deposit, a payroll deduction allotment or transfer from another institution, then no minimum opening deposit is required. This account has a $3.00 monthly service charge. A $25 penalty will be charged if the HSA is closed within the first year of opening. All standard HSA rules and regulations apply. Students age 12 to 15 must have a parent or guardian sign as joint owner. Students age 16 and over need not have a joint owner, if they can provide proof of full or part-time employment.
Seniors Choice Checking
For members age 50 and over. A minimum opening deposit of $100 is required for this account. Dividends are calculated by the daily balance method which applies a daily periodic rate to the balance in the account each day. There is a $100 minimum balance requirement and a $4 monthly service charge if your balance falls below the minimum. MEMBER CONDUCT POLICY
The Board of Directors adopt this policy to protect the employees, volunteers and members of Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union (the "Credit Union") from disruptive and/or abusive members. This policy is enacted to address standards of member conduct in order to ensure the safety, rights and protection of all Credit Union employees, volunteers, members and other persons who may be affected by abusive conduct.
The Credit Union's reputation is due in large part to the loyalty, commitment and continued efforts of its employees, volunteers and members. The Credit Union is committed to treating its employees, volunteers, members and others with the respect they deserve and is committed to maintaining a work place free from unacceptable conduct from any source.
In the event that any person or entity engages in any type of abusive conduct towards the Credit Union; a Credit Union member or a Credit Union employee or volunteer engaged in Credit Union business; or engages in any conduct the Credit Union deems disruptive to the Credit Union, its other members, its employees or others, the CEO or his or her designee is authorized to apply appropriate measures against such individual.
The Board of Directors authorizes Management to limit, restrict or deny any or all services to a member (other than the right to maintain a share account and the right to vote at annual meetings and at special meetings) that engages or participates in harassing, offensive, or abusive conduct or otherwise disrupts TVFCU’s operations. Management will inform the Board at the next scheduled Board meeting of any actions taken under this policy and the reasons why these actions were taken. Without limiting the acts or actions that the Credit Union may take, but to illustrate the possible actions that may be taken, one or all of the following actions may be imposed against any individuals who have engaged in abusive conduct:

Denial of services

Immediate closure of accounts / services
-
Preclusion from personal contacts with Credit Union employees or volunteers such that Credit Union services may be available only by remote means.

Preclusion from access to Credit Union premises; or other premises as may apply to the Credit Union’s business.
-
Taking any other action deemed appropriate under the circumstances.
-
Threats of bodily harm, actual bodily harm, or any illegal activity against any Credit Union employee, volunteer, member or other person will be reported to appropriate local, state or federal authorities. Additionally, the Credit Union at its discretion may seek a restraining order and/or take any other actions it deems appropriate.

In the cases where the Credit Union deems such actions appropriate; or in cases of continued abusive conduct or a single extremely abusive incident, as determined by the Credit Union, member shall be subject to immediate removal from membership.
For purposes of the policy, "abusive and/or disruptive conduct" includes, but is not limited to, any of the following conduct:

Any threats of or actual bodily harm or illegal activity against another member or an employee or volunteer engaged in Credit Union business.

Any form of action that may constitute harassment. For example:
-
Any type of harassment, including age, sexual, ethnic, or racial harassment; making racial or ethnic slurs, engaging in sexual conduct; making sexual overtures.
-
Inappropriate touching.
-
Making sexual flirtations, advances or propositions; engaging in verbal abuse of a sexual, racial or ethnic nature; making graphic or degrading comments about an individual or his or her appearance.

Displaying sexually suggestive objects or pictures.
-
-
Fighting, kicking or other physical harm or attempted harm towards a Credit Union member, employee or volunteer engaged in Credit Union business. For example:
-
Engaging in offensive or abusive physical contact.
-
-
Making false, vicious or malicious statements about any Credit Union employee or volunteer or the Credit Union and its services, operations, policies, practices, or management.
-
Cursing or other abusive or vulgar language directed towards a Credit Union member, employee or volunteer engaged in Credit Union business. For example:
-
Using profane, abusive, inappropriate, intimidating, or threatening language.
-
-
Bringing or possessing firearms or weapons or any hazardous or dangerous device on Credit Union premises or at a Credit Union function.
-
Possession, sale, use or the appearance of being under the influence of an unlawful or alcoholic substance on Credit Union premises or at a Credit Union function.
-
Attempting to coerce or interfere with a Credit Union employee or volunteer in the performance of their duties at any time.
-
Uncivil conduct or failure to maintain satisfactory working relationships with other members, employees and volunteers at the Credit Union.
-
Conducting or attempting to conduct or engage in any fraudulent, dishonest or deceptive activity of any kind involving Credit Union employees or Credit Union services.
-
Any posting, defacing, or removing notices or signs on Credit Union premises; writing on Credit Union bulletin boards without management authorization.
-
Appropriation or misappropriation of Credit Union funds, property or other material proprietary to the Credit Union; immoral conduct or indecency or Credit Union premises.
-
Deliberate or repeated violations of security procedures or safety rules.
-
Any act which endangers or has the potential to endanger the safety, health or well-being of another person or which is of sufficient magnitude to cause (or may cause) disruption of business at the Credit Union.

Any act or actions disruptive to Credit Union operations or members/employees sense of security.
-
Prolonged presence upon Credit Union premises without any legitimate reason for such presence.
This list is not comprehensive and is used only as an illustration of types of behavior that may be viewed as "abusive and/or disruptive” by the Credit Union. Any other conduct which warrants termination or limitation of services in accordance with the membership agreement and disclosures governing any account or services may result in application of this Policy.
Social Channel Responsibility
Members are encouraged to engage and dialogue with Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union via our online social channels on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. We may also employ other social channels in the future. Members have a responsibility to keep the conversations in these public forums free of inappropriate language, terms and subjects. They also have a responsibility to avoid derogatory or defamatory statements or claims. Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union reserves the right, at its discretion, to remove any post or comments that it deems in violation of these standards.
Notification to Member Optional
In most cases the Credit Union shall notify any affected person of his or her expulsion or pending expulsion, and the reasons upon which it is based. Notice may not be provided in certain cases when the Credit Union deems it to be in its best interests. When notice is provided, the Credit Union may allow a person to challenge the pending expulsion by submitting a written request for such. Persons seeking to challenge such expulsion must notify the Credit Union, in writing, within thirty days of receipt of the notification, stating the reasons for their challenge. Such challenge, if submitted by the affected person(s), will then be considered at a meeting of the Board of Directors or the Board’s Executive Committee. The Board shall have the discretion to reinstate membership when it deems such to be proper (on such terms as the Board may deem proper).

1Any fees charged against a member’s account will reduce the annual percentage yield (APY).
2Any account with charged-off loans or shares, loans 30 days past due or more, or limited share accounts will default to a Basic level which will follow the fee schedule for the Star Rewards level, and will not receive any special offers.
3A checking account is required to receive Trophy level rewards.
4The Combined Average Daily Deposit & Loan Balance is calculated by totaling the average daily deposit balances (sum of daily balance divided by number of days) for the previous month, with the current loan balances as of the current month’s statement cycle date. The resulting Combined Average Daily Deposit & Loan Balance is then used at the current month’s statement cycle to determine the Winner’s Circle Rewards level, which will be printed on the last page of the statement. Notification of any change in the Winner’s Circle Rewards level will also be printed on the last statement page. Members moving to a higher Winner’s Circle Rewards level will begin receiving additional benefits as of the statement cycle date. Members moving to a lower Winner’s Circle Rewards level will have until the next statement cycle date before changes are effective.
5A fee will be charged if the Credit Union must transfer funds from savings to checking to cover an overdraft from check, debit, POS, ATM, etc. If a member requests the transfer prior to draft clearing, no charge will be made.
6A fee will be charged for each returned item including: checks, automatic transfers (utilities, insurance or ACH payments) due to insufficient funds (NSF). Per occurrence- to include repeat presentments. Excessive NSF charges may result in the share draft account being closed.

After 3 years, any funds remaining in the account in excess of $25 are turned over to the state of Tennessee.
Bonus dividend rates and/or loan discounts may be periodically available based on Winner’s Circle Rewards level.
Costs, Expenses and Attorney's Fees for All Accounts and Services – All owners of account(s) or service(s) with us agree, jointly and severally, to pay us for all costs and expenses, including attorneys' fees we may incur: (1) If it is necessary for us to bring any legal or other action to collect any sum you owe the Credit Union; (2) If we incur any costs or expense as a result of any order or instruction received from any owner or any owner's agent under this Agreement, any adverse claim, legal process; your failure to comply with any obligation in this Membership Agreement or otherwise; (3) If we incur any expense as a result of any dispute, adverse or inconsistent claims; (4) If we bring any action contemplated in this Agreement; (5) If we successfully defend any claim against the Credit Union brought by any owner, agent, personal representative, executor, heir or other party in interest brought via any formal or informal process (including but not limited to arbitration or mediation) involving your accounts or services with us; or (6) If we deem it necessary to seek the advice or opinion of legal counsel or other professionals regarding the bona fides or legality of any transaction(s) to/from your accounts or involving any services with us, or any request for information or documentation regarding any of your accounts and/or services with us. If you are responsible to pay us any costs of collection or legal expenses incurred in collecting any amount you owe; in enforcing or protecting our rights under this Agreement or otherwise; or as provided in this subsection, including but not limited to costs of repossession, repair, appraisal, and all other costs or expenses, you agree to pay us the actual amount of such costs and expenses together with reasonable attorneys’ fees. In the case of any collection action you agree that 20% of the unpaid balance or such greater sum as may be appropriate based on the circumstances shall be a reasonable amount, unless applicable law specifically provides otherwise. Further, you agree to pay the Credit Union an additional sum for any costs, legal expenses or attorneys’ fees incurred in any appellate, bankruptcy or post-judgment proceedings, except as limited or prohibited by applicable law. Any costs, expenses or fees hereunder will be paid from any of your account(s) with the Credit Union before payment to any owner or other party. If the amounts in your account(s) are not sufficient, then the owner(s) of the affected account(s) or parties to any applicable services will immediately pay any difference.
