Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union is participating in the Dragon Boat Race Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the TVA Park at Chickamauga Dam.  TVFCU’s team, Makin’ Waves, has been practicing hard and prepping for the big day.  We are very excited to be a part of this fun event to benefit The Children’s Hospital. A mix of 21 TVFCU employees will become paddlers for the day to compete for the Grand Champion Title.  Join us in cheering for our Makin’ Waves team! Paddles Up!!

Watch the spectacle of dragon boat racing in the Year of the Dragon when 55 corporate and community teams race in the 6th Annual Children’s Hospital Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday, May 19, at The TVA Park at Chickamauga Dam. Racing starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends around 3:30 p.m.

Teams of 20 paddlers, a drummer and steerer race a 250 meter course in authentic Hong Kong-style, 46-foot-long dragon boats. Teams rave brings excitement, friendly competition and community spirit surrounding the sport. Teams decorate their tents, wear their dragon apparel and cheer throughout the day.  Join us in a fun filled day of excitement while raising money for our local Children’s Hospital!

Do you know what time of the year it is? It’s Strawberry Season and I’m in heaven!!  The annual Dayton Strawberry Festival is upon us.  I am so excited to attend the TVFCU Block Party Friday, May 11th beginning at 6:00pm and continuing through the evening until at least 11:00pm.  TVFCU crew will be near the main stage in Centennial Park which is located next to the Dayton Courthouse.  Stop by and visit us to get our infamous TVFCU Strawberry Chapstick and TVFCU Waves temporary tattoos!  Don’t pass up the best opportunity to buy local strawberries and indulge in a chocolate covered strawberry kabob-my Fave!

It’s that time of year again…TVFCU hosts our 76^th Annual Meeting!  All members are invited to join us on Thursday, April 26 at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center from 5:00pm-8:00pm.  Enjoy a free tour of the African American Museum from 5:00pm-6:45pm.  Plus, TVFCU will offer free refreshments and entertainment will be provided.  The annual meeting will begin at 7:00 pm.

We are so excited to announce that our branch in Athens, TN has been moved into a freestanding building!  Our new Athens Branch is now open and ready to serve you!! 

The public is invited to join us for the Grand Opening ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, April 11^th at 1:30pm located at the TVFCU Athens Branch, 1314 Decatur Pike in Athens, TN.

Our new Athens Branch features ample parking, drive-thru lanes, drive-thru ATM and an open, interactive atmosphere.  In addition, there are popular member perks such as a lounge with free gourmet coffees, comfortable seating, and  free use of our coin counting machine.  The Athens Branch will be open Monday through Thursday from 9:00am until 5:00pm, and Friday from 9:00am until 6:00pm. They are also now open on Saturday’s from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.
